When I first started painting urban scenes I didn't like painting cars or trucks. Boy, have times changed. I get a big kick out of it now. I don't pretend to know the make and models of what I'm painting but I'm attracted to their personality on the canvas. This truck was in a field in Boulder Colorado nestled in the tall grass and lilac bushes. Time has taken its toll on its facade and its been used for target practice a few times but, none the less what a fantastic subject!

This snowy street scene was on Sherman Street looking towards the capital building. The pedestrian was waiting for his ride to pick him up. I was wishing I had a ride about that time too.

The time spent next to a crystal clear stream like this one near Steamboat Colorado is time well spent. Nothing is more beautiful than how the light dances on the water as it winds its way down the mountain.

Today's painting was from a outing I had not to long ago to meet friends for dinner. It was a snowy night and people were huddling together to stay warm while waiting for the shuttle.

Chilly Reflections Acrylic 6 x 6 urban landscape painting

SOLD

Sometimes when its winter its just warm enough to have a rain/snow mix. So even on those days I'm out getting sources to paint from. There was enough water on the street to through a reflection of this warmly dressed lady so I just had to paint it.

Escape to Paradise Acylic 7 x 5 Impressionistic Landscape

$100.00 + $10.00 S/H

This time of year I day dream of being somewhere by the beach soaking in the sun and breathing the sea air. I thought that painting something like that would make it more than just a day dream. Hopefully, it will spark a real escape of your own.

Coffee Break 7 x 5 Acrylic Impressionistic Urban Landscape

SOLD

I'm a big fan of having a coffee break. I love to take some time away from the easel and go photograph the city and grab a late'. This was a view up 16th street in Denver where there is a new Starbucks. Since I was enjoying a steaming late from the store I decided to paint the steaming cup of coffee on their sign.

Luna 12 x 9 Acrylic Original Dog Portrait

SOLD

The Gaffin's commissioned me to do this portrait of Luna. She is the light of their lives and they wanted to immortalize her in an original painting. When I met Luna to take her pictures for the portrait she had a very gentle nature but also an undeniable spark in her eye that was all love. That same spark was very apparent in her owners eyes as well. They loved the final result and celebrated by opening a bottle of french champagne.

Business Casual Acrylic 6 x 6 original urban painting

$100.00 + $10.00 S/H

Today I am finally back into my daily painting routine. I started today trying to go a bit abstract in this interpretation of a business man returning to the office. It was a very blustery wet day and he was a bit out of his element with no coat but his umbrella was a good substitute.

Flash Acrylic 5 x 7 original impressionist painting

SOLD

Flash is a Basset Hound. A good friend of the owners commissioned me to paint this portrait of him. He was up there in years but the owner thought this was indicative of his personality.
My uncle had a Basset Hound when I was a kid and all I can remember about him was his ears dragging on the floor and his tail making a lot of noise when he would wag it and hit the floor.
They are such characters and interesting subjects for a painting.

Sisi and Thomas Acrylic 8 x 10 original pet portrait

SOLD

These two beautiful creatures really know how to pose! Sisi and Thomas were wonderful subjects for a painting. Pet portraits are fast becoming one of my favorite subjects for my work.
I have had sort of a hiatus from my daily paintings because of my commission schedule but plan to get back to it starting now. I will be posting some of the commission images in the next few postings.
